Vedo Rosso is an exhibition that explores gender stereotypes in everyday Italian language.
Each illustrator worked on a commonly used expression, highlighting the asymmetries and implicit
mechanisms these expressions carry.
The phrase “Hai le tue cose?” (“Have you got your things?”) is a disrespectful question referring to
the menstrual cycle.
When a woman’s behavior is perceived as irritating or annoying,
she may sarcastically be asked this question.
It is used to mock and belittle menstruation, implying that her behavior is only the result of her
period.
